Located along Matara Road in Habaraduwa, approximately 5 km from Galle, the Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of endangered sea turtles. Established in 1986, the hatchery focuses on protecting turtle eggs from predators and poachers, rehabilitating injured turtles, and educating the public about marine conservation. Visitors can observe various species of sea turtles, including Green, Hawksbill, Olive Ridley, Loggerhead, and Leatherback turtles. The hatchery also offers the opportunity to participate in releasing hatchlings into the ocean, providing a memorable and meaningful experience.
