Pinnawala Zoo, established in 2015, is Sri Lanka’s first open-air zoo, situated close to the renowned Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Spanning 44 acres, the zoo is home to over 100 animals representing more than 30 species, including native Sri Lankan wildlife such as leopards, sloth bears, deer, crocodiles, and various bird species. The zoo is divided into two main sections: the Sri Lankan Zone and the World Zone, offering visitors a comprehensive view of the island’s biodiversity.
